Fees without the fine print

Therapy at Connected Roots Counseling costs $100 per 50 minutes session, self-pay through Ivy Pay. The first 15-minute consult is free, superbills are available for out-of-network benefits, and every self-pay client receives a Good Faith Estimate. That is the whole pricing model.

How much does a session cost?

Every standard session is $100 for 50 minutes. The initial 15-minute consult is free. There are no memberships, packages, or hidden fees.

How do I pay?

Payment is collected through Ivy Pay, a secure, HIPAA-compliant payment app built for therapy practices. I accept cash, credit, debit, HSA, and FSA payments.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not currently in-network with any insurance companies, so clients pay directly. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, I will provide a superbill you can submit for possible partial reimbursement.

How do out-of-network benefits and superbills work?

You pay me directly, and I give you a superbill: an itemized receipt with the codes insurers need. You submit it to your insurance company, and if your plan includes out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage, they reimburse you a portion of the fee.

To check your coverage, call the member services number on your insurance card and ask three questions: Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health? What is my out-of-network deductible and how much has been met? What percentage do you reimburse for CPT code 90837? I cannot guarantee reimbursement, so always confirm with your insurer first.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care is expected to cost. Health care providers must give an estimate to patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance, before or shortly after scheduling, and any time you ask.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Keep a copy of your estimate. For questions or more information, visit cms.gov/nosurprises. My pricing is flat and published, so your estimate will hold no surprises, which is rather the point.

What about cancellations?

Life happens, and I ask for 24 hours notice when it does. The full cancellation policy is part of your intake paperwork, in plain English, before your first session.

Not sure if I am the right fit? That is exactly what the free consult is for.

Fifteen minutes, no pressure, no paperwork. You ask questions, I answer honestly, and if I am not the right therapist for you I will help you find someone who is.
