OCD Therapy

Therapy for the kind of OCD nobody else can see

I provide telehealth therapy for OCD anywhere in Ohio, and the quiet, hard-to-spot kind is the work I look forward to most. If your compulsions happen mostly in your head (checking, reviewing, arguing with your own thoughts, seeking reassurance), you are not "just an overthinker," and you do not have to prove it is "bad enough" to deserve help.

Who this is for

  • People whose compulsions are mostly mental: reviewing, replaying, mentally checking, or trying to solve a thought until it feels right
  • Folks who seek reassurance constantly and feel guilty for needing it
  • People with scrupulosity, including OCD tangled up with faith, morality, or being a good person
  • Anyone who has been told they are just anxious or a perfectionist, when it feels like something stickier

How I work

  • We start by naming the pattern. A lot of quiet OCD hides because nobody ever asked what happens inside your head.
  • The core treatment is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the most well-supported therapy for OCD. In plain terms: we practice facing the thought or trigger on purpose, without doing the compulsion (including the mental ones), so your brain learns the alarm can fade on its own.
  • ERP has a reputation for being harsh, and it does not have to be. We build a ladder together, start small, and you are always part of deciding what comes next. Nothing gets sprung on you.
  • Humor is allowed. Your brain is doing a lot, and sometimes the kindest response is to laugh at it together.

Questions people ask

Can I have OCD if nobody can see my compulsions?

Yes. Many people with OCD do most of their compulsions mentally, which is part of why it goes unrecognized for so long. That is exactly the kind I love working with.

What is ERP, and will it be awful?

ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. You practice approaching a trigger while skipping the compulsion, so your brain relearns that uncertainty is survivable. Done well, it is collaborative and gradual, not a bootcamp. We go at a pace you consent to.

Does OCD therapy work over telehealth?

For many people, yes, and ERP actually lends itself to it: we can practice exposures in the real environments where your OCD lives, not just an office. You get to work on this from your own space, and we can adjust anything that is not working for you.

Not sure if I am the right fit? That is exactly what the free consult is for.
